Prophecy remote control support is now available!
The Data Perceptions Remote Support utility allows us to securely view your screen across the internet and, with your permission, remote control your computer for the duration of your support call.
It should work across your internal firewalls etc. as it uses port 80 for its communication, which is the same port as your web browser uses to get you internet pages. If your company uses a different port for web access, the utility also supports port 8080 and port 5500.
This is all you need to do:
- Download the Remote Support utility by clicking this link. (We recommend saving it to your Windows desktop to save you having to download it again in the future.) There is no installation and the application leaves nothing behind on your computer once it has finished.
- Run the downloaded file, prophecyremote.exe, You
will see the following screen:

- Call Data Perceptions on +44 (0)1494 785574 to request remote support.
- Once Data Perceptions has started their remote support viewer software, select the port option from the 3 choice list on the left hand side of the Remote Support Utility.
- The Remote Support Utility on your computer will then connect to Data Perceptions across the internet and Data Perceptions will then be able to view and control your screen.
- When the remote support session is finished the Remote Support Utility on your computer automatically closes and Data Perceptions will no longer be able to see or control your screen, until the next time you run the Remote Support Utility on your computer.
Security information on the Prophecy Remote Support Server:
The Remote Support Utility offers the following security elements:
- It is only ever initiated by the person who wants to share his or her desktop to receive support. The user requiring support has to launch the support server in order to initiate the connection.
- The Support Server can only connect to the IP address that is predefined (hard-coded) in the support utility - i.e. Data Perceptions.
- There is no unattended service connection. When the Support Server terminates (i.e. stops running on your computer) nothing is left running.
- The Support Server is automatically and systematically uninstalled when the connection is closed.
- The Support Server uses port 80 for its communication, which is the port used to serve web pages to your computer. Therefore it should work with most firewalls without requiring additional ports to be opened. If you prefer or need to use a different port, you can use port 5500 or port 8080.
Alternatively, you may use the (free) CrossLoop remote support utility. Please click here for more information on CrossLoop.
